The Council of Bureaux, Ecowas Brown Card Insurance Scheme held in hybrid mode on February 4, 2022 an Extraordinary Session.

The 38th Assembly of the Council of Bureaux of the ECOWAS Brown Card scheduled to be held in Ouaga in the Republic of Burkina Faso from 01 to 04 February 2022 did not take place due to the socio-political crisis that Burkina Faso has recently experienced.

The Executive Committee, meeting on Monday, January 24, 2022, decided to hold an Extraordinary Budgetary Session by videoconference in hybrid mode on February 4, 2022.

This session was preceded by the Executive Committee meeting on Thursday 03 February 2022 in Lome in hybrid mode with the Malian National Bureau : Executive committee member.

1. The following National Bureaux were online or in face-to-face :

BENIN, BURKINA FASO, CÔTE D’IVOIRE, GAMBIA, GHANA, GUINEE CONAKRY, GUINEE BISSAU, MALI, LIBERIA, NIGER, NIGERIA, SENEGAL, TOGO

2. The National Bureau was absent : SIERRA LEONE

3. The following National Insurance Commissioners were online or in face-to-face :

CÔTE D’IVOIRE, GHANA, GUINEE CONAKRY, SENEGAL, TOGO

After having taken note of the letter from Burkina Faso relating to the current political situation in that country, the General Assembly adopted the following resolutions :

1. The extension of the mandate of the Chairman and the Executive Committee from October 2021 to October 2022

2. The organization of the next General Assembly in October 2022 by Ghana in the event that Burkina Faso does not confirm the holding in Ouaga of the said General Assembly before March 31, 2022.

The choice of Ghana takes into account the fact that it is the English-speaking country immediately available to occupy the post of Vice-President after Burkina Faso
